Dennis Walters advised the new bill has been drafted and it is called PA Campus Police Authorization Act. Essentially what it will do is to parallel ACT 120. It will be a volunteer program that colleges if they want can opt in. For those colleges who want to opt in it will give those departments full recognition under MPOETC just as the state colleges have. For further details, please contact Lt. Dennis Walters at Franklin & Marshall College.

NEW BUSINESS

President Fago reported she noticed there were no nominations for the Training/Grants committee and the By-Laws committee. Fago advised nominations are needed for these committees. Fago nominated Tom Ahlers for the training/grants committee. Dennis Walters nominated Becky Conway for the by-laws committee. Susan Prevuznik was also nominated for the by-laws committee. An announcement for nominations for the training/grants committee and the by-laws committee will be distributed via email. Members are encouraged to either nominate another member or nominate themselves for a position on the training/grants committee or the by-laws committee. Requests for nominations need to be sent via an email to President Fago at Stephanie.fago@email.stvincent.edu by November 3, 2008.

President Fago said secretary/treasurer Jennifer Allshouse consolidated all the 2008 Gettysburg Crime Prevention training evaluations to one easy to read form containing all attendee’s comments and suggestions about the training classes and for improvements. Fago reported that the evaluations were very good and everyone seemed to enjoy the training.

President Fago asked how the Postal Fraud presentation was. The members reported the presenter was good and provided a lot of great handouts including crime prevention dvd’s. The membership said that when people think of crime prevention on colleges, immediately they think of theft, alcohol, and sexual assaults. The membership agreed colleges and universities need to realize that there are so many other crimes happening on campus and the atmosphere is changing. Secretary/Treasurer Jennifer Allshouse said she would like to see PACCPP add active shooter training to the annual PACCPP June 2009 training at Gettysburg College.

President Fago advised Saint Vincent College is hosting a National Self-Defense Institute S.A.F.E. (Self Defense Awareness and Familiarization Exchange) Program on January 5, 2009. Fago said there needs to be 20 persons registered in order for NSDI to send an instructor to the area to conduct the program. The cost for this program is $185.00 per participant. Those interested may contact Fago for an application.

President Fago suggested future October meetings be held on a Wednesday versus a Friday. The Board will consider this change.
